Time Intervals

Metin Alper Kurt

25 January - 24 February 2024

x-ist is hosting Metin Alper Kurt's second solo exhibition titled "Time Intervals" from January 25 to February 24, 2024.

"Time Intervals" presents reflections of a personal and profound form of time. Time periods shaped by subjective experiences and inner worlds create fragmented yet simultaneously holistic temporal structures. Time carries a formal line highlighting frozen moments in internal and vital dynamics. The weave of each time period determines the emphasis of that moment. Images of still periods manifest in various forms such as letting go, shifting, opening, folding, and pausing. While marble presents a depiction of frozen time, it reflects the conditions of the inner and outer worlds. Sculpted from marble blocks, these sculptures carry elements of a poetic and crystalline time, expressing the totality of intervals. As Deleuze stated, "…time is not internal to us, we are internal to time. The internality is where we are, move, live, and change."*
