Parallax

Alp Sime

22 January - 14 February 2009

Alp Sime's debut show was the toast of art lovers when he opened in 2002. His follow up series of photographs, in 2003, created intense debate between the press and readers. Having shown his last series of photographs in Athens in 2006, Sime’s new show "Parallax" can be seen at x-ist starting on the 22nd of January.

In his exhibition "Paralax", Alp Sime, one of the most respected photographers of his generation, takes in hand scenes that Istanbul residents encounter and the domination that those images form over their collective emotions.

The theme of the subconscious, underlined by Sime in his previous works, combines with elements of social criticism and passes through into a state laden with black humor.

These works in Parallax, which resemble a dream diary waiting for interpretation, will stay in the mind of the viewer, emphasized by their simplicity.
