Born in 1985 in Hamburg, Germany, the artist currently lives and works in
Istanbul. Following her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 2007,Zaptçıoğlu continued and completed her studies in the Department of Painting at the Mimar Sinan Academy of Fine Arts in 2008.
While observing the shifting balances of nature in her paintings, Aylin Zaptçıoğlu also explores the unsettling position of humankind as it separates itself from nature. In addition to working with oil on canvas and printmaking, the artist also creates three-dimensional works using various materials, placing human interiority at the core of her practice.
Her solo exhibitions are Evin Art Gallery (Istanbul 2011 ve 2013), “Possibilities” (2014, Evin Art Gallery), “Fest and Feast” (2016, Evin Art Gallery) and “Good Bad Hot Cold” (2018, Öktem & Aykut Gallery). Among the exhibitions Aylin Zaptçıoğlu participated in are ‘Forest of Utopia’ (2009, Bodio Lomnago, Italy), El Burro, (2009, Zacatecas, Mexico), “The Celestial Sphere” (2010, Bodio Lomnago, Italy), Kimera, (2018, x-ist, Istanbul)
